Just got back to Morzine after a super busy awesome week down in Les Deux Alpes for the Euro edition of Crankworx!!
Crankworx Euro L2A - Bernard Kerr
The first event up was probably the most fun as well...the whip off a 1 hour jam with a winner decided at the end! Eliot and myself had a ton of fun, did some trains..landed sideways a couple of times and tried our best...unfortunately right at the end they decided it would be down to one last run where unfortunately I didn't manage to pull off my best whip and only managing a 2nd place after feeling like I had the win in me the whole jam!!!! Eliot rode well and finished in the top 5...loads of coverage though and we have been hitting the social media hard with some shots!!!
Next up was the speed and style where I choose to ride the m4x...after a super fun practice I qualified first in the timed runs! The heats went well until in the semi final I rolled my tire in the second to last turn whilst ahead of Greg Watts which put me into the small final! I raced hard and threw a couple of scrubs and seat grabs which gave me the win and 3rd place!!!
Next up was the pump track race...postponed 1 day due to rain it was after dh qualifiers. I qualified 7th and after a stupid first round of not riding great and the timing saying the other guy beat me...I was out...there was a lot of timing issues and re runs going on i the first rounds but as I felt I was not riding great and I still had the DH to go I opted out of protesting for a re run! Micayla rode well and took the win in the women's category after a close race...replay below with her race very close to the end!
The last even left was the Air dh which is also a IXS European DH cup...but unlike A-line this was not a groomed jump track...super fast super technical and in my opinion one of the best tracks of the year!!! Micayla had a couple of big crashes on the first day that rattled here a bit and threw her off but she still managed a solid 8th place. Eliot was also loving the track just as much as me to come in a solid 18th! After feeling great in practice and really believing I was going to be a threat to Gee Atherton winning the race 3 years in a row I slid the front wheel out on a tight turn in the mid section with my underside foot trapped and unable to unclip straight away before getting up...I lost a load of time before getting back into my run and giving it my all to the line! I came into the hot seat for a while before finally ending up in a very disappointing 15th....completely my fault this time and not what I wanted! The positive to take away is that I had the speed apart from a stupid mistake to really be up there with top guys!
All in all a great week of events and coverage for the team with Micayla and myself scoring a number of interviews on the live online feed!!!
Thank you all again for the support!
Next up is Mont Saint Anne and Windham world cups followed by Crankworx whistler in North America!
