This summer has been a blur of route setting/coaching, climbing, and more route setting /coaching.  In June I had the opportunity to work with a really talented group of kids here at Stone Summit for a Pre-Nationals Training Camp.  Youth climbers traveled from all across the U.S. to attend the camp and we had a really great turnout. It was great working with the next generation of climbers and I’m really impressed by their abilities!  Everybody that attended was a pleasure to work with and you could see that they were all hungry for climbing.  You can expect amazing things from them in the future, that’s for sure!

Directly after the Pre-Nationals Training Camp I switched gears and went into route setting mode.  I applied to for a setting position at Youth SCS Nationals and was fortunate enough to be chosen to fill the position.  I’ve never set for such a large event before but I was excited to be a part of the behind the scenes production that helps make these events possible.  It was a long week of setting and fore running but it was a blast!  I had the opportunity to work with some of the best setters in the country and I had such a good time doing so.

I spent a lot of the summer training for this upcoming fall/winter season in between all the work at the gym.  My good friend Brion Voges and I were supposed to leave for Colorado today but unfortunately we had to cancel our trip due to the massive flooding that swept over Colorado’s Front Range.  All is well though!  We decided to change our plans a bit and we now leave for Switzerland in October!  I’m beyond psyched to finally climb in Europe!  I’ve waited a long time but it’s finally happening!  YES!
