The National Champs track in Angel Fire, NM was a winner! The whole week was lit up with happy people who just loved the area and the race track. We did get a little rain that helped the track out for a day, however race day was dry and loose. There was great competition from both the women's and men's field that made for some awesome racing, just what the spectator's wanted. All the racers were also excited to have all the their sponsors in the venue areas to keep their bikes in proper working order for this long, brutal track.

Team Harmony was representing all over the place with our sticker logos floating around and the best was the Pivot Cycles Easy-up near the bottom of the course giving shade to the course marshals. Team Harmony's Pivot Phoenix DH bikes handled the rough terrain with ease and rolled through the course with finesse. As I battled the flu, brought back from Europe, throughout the week, I still felt really good on the track and knew that I had a chance of defending my National Champs title.

My race run was phenomenal, until I took an inside corner on a very high speed section and slid out, spinning a 180 and holding on to my bars the whole time. When my slide-out was over I was in a squat, sitting position turned in the opposite direction of where I needed to be. I fumbled and jumped back on my bike and pedaled hard to get my speed back up. I nailed the rest of the course, but was unable to make up anything for the big mistake. It all worked out in the end, because I managed to pull off a 2nd place behind one of the fastest girls in the world, Jill Kintner.

I'll be back next year to make sure I am in the stars and stripes again. Dante was tearing it up all week, having a blast on the new/old track. Dante made some last minute tire changes which helped tremendously, allowing Dante to take 15 seconds off his qualification run. His race run did not go as planned due to a major slip up in the World Cup rock garden, which is one of the hardest spots to get through.

Thanks to everyone that came out and had a blast at Angel Fire Bike Park! Team Harmony has been working really hard to ensure that a top level competition, such as National Champs, could be held on this amazing mountain and stoke everyone out with sick trails. Huge thanks to Pivot Bikes for getting Team Harmony up and running on such sweet machinery. Our Schwalbe tires worked flawlessly all weekend long, the Marzocchi suspension was eating boulders and spitting out gravel. Smith Optics kept the vision clear and Deity components put the hands, feet and bums exactly where they need to be.
