After quite some years Roc Trip was back to where it was born, in the Gorges du Tarn near Millau. I love this place and was happy to spend four days there in great Petzl Team company!
I climbed a lot in Gorges du Tarn, 13 years ago! In between there were some problems in the area, some sectors were even unequipped. But then the local climbers and the CAF (Cluf Alpin Francais) made a lot of effort with the local comunity and now the Tarn is living his second youth. New topo (208 pages and more than 700 routes), all the sectors rebolted, new lines, new sectors! Something to climb for one whole life!
For this occasion CAF organized the Roc Trip. We were many climbers in all the sectors, it was pleasure to see a lot of kids on the rock too! Tarn is for everybody; easy and hard stuff, looooong and short routes, big and small pockets..
Since I was only there for four days I listen to the local climbers (Patou) who recommended me “the nicest 8a’s”. So I did Astrotarn 8a (50m), La feerie pour une autre fois 8a (70m), and La tarte aux pois 8a+ (only 35mJ). I have to mention also that the conditions were simply perfect, fresh, almost cold! This is not usual for the Tarn in the end of June.
On the last day we did with Mariona Marti also the Roc Aiguille, a nice about 180m high monolith, above Pas de Soucy. I never did such a nice route in the grade 4+! Only big holes! And super nice, sharp arête on the top!
Now I am impatient to climb in the granite. The conditions are bad this year in Chamonix, it keeps on snowing up there!
