The 30th annual Clackamas River Festival took place this year the weekend of May 18/19 2013. The two day event is part of the Western Whitewater Championship Series, a summer long series of races across the Northwest. With only three races left after Clackfest, paddlers came out in full force to gain points, and enjoy the festivities: rafters, stand-up paddleboarders, driftboaters, whitewater kayakers, even inner-tubers!
Saturday and Sunday featured various races, such as a slalom for all craft through Carter Falls rapid, a 20 minute downriver race, a cataraft freestyle rodeo, and a big air ramp for the whitewater paddlers of the bunch!

I was able to attend the event for only a short time on Sunday for the Downriver Kayak Race, but had a blast! A quick pass one hundred yards above the finish line made for a pretty awesome ending to the race: 1st! High Five!
See you on the river,
