This fall in France has been some of the best jumping of the season- that is- when we actually get to jump! Fall is great because the air is more stable, meaning you get to jump and fly all day.  But sometimes when the air doesn't heat up, we end up getting stuck at the top of the cliff, looking down at all of the clouds. This is part of the sport few people get to see. Yes- the jumping and flying down is AMAZING, but the majority of the time is spent checking weather, scouting, hiking, and waiting for the proper conditions to arrive. Luckily for me, I really enjoy all aspects of the sport- so if it ends with me hiking down, I am not all that disappointed.

BASE jumping is a great sport to do with your friends, but when it comes down to it, as jumpers, we make our own decisions. We are not reliant on anyone else like in climbing.  When climbing- you are putting your life in the hands of your belayer. When jumping- you are in charge, and only you. Which is why if you make a bad decision, you have no one to blame but yourself.

I feel that one of the most difficult aspects of wingsuit BASE jumping, is deciding to hike down. The decision to hike down is SO much harder than the decision to fly. This is for a few reasons: One-My legs are not accustom to hiking down, so I know I am going to walk funny for at least a few days after :) Two- it's really disappointing. I have been getting ready to do something extremely exciting- and my body is expecting that Dopamine and Adrenaline rush.  When my body is expecting something and then doesn't get it becomes very restless. And last but not least- it can be lonely.

Luckily, I have been getting in some great Paragliding this fall. Not to mention, the winter season is just around the corner and it will be full of Speedriding and SkiBASEing! Woo Hoo!
