The fifth edition of this year’s speed World Cup was held in amazing setting for Upland of Qinghai Plateau in China. Edyta wasn’t a favorite of that event. Qualifying round was a big challeng for her, during first run as a result of bad belaying she accidentally grabbed the rope, causing a slow-down run. She obtained time 9,56 seconds. In second race she unfortunately fell off the wall. She was classified in 10th place.

The final spacing is the darkest of the possible scenarios. In all final races she was spaced with the strongest athletes in the world. Until the fight for the gold medal, she succeeded beat any of them. In the first final run, she took revenge on Julia Kapalina from Russia, who defeated her a month earlier at the World Championships in Paris.

The next phase is the final spacing of Edyta with another Russian champion, leader of this year’s world cup ranking Alina Gaydamakina. Edyta again shows her class and wins duel with 9,21 seconds to 9,97 s. In the races for promotion to the big final Edyta goes with current world champion and world speed record holder Julia Lewoczkina from Russia. This course seems to be no chance for her. Not for Edyta! Three time world cup winner beats rival advancing to the big finals.

The grand finale is a battle between Edyta Ropek and the French Esther Bruckner, who in earlier run set a new world record 8,33 seconds! Unfortunately during this duel Edyta make misteake, despite a good time of 9,19 s., the representative of France wins with time 8,54 s. Edyta is second, but it’s also success because she advanced on second position in this year’s World Cup Ranking!

After competition Edyta briefly commented: “It was very hard, and therefore I’m doubly glad with the result”.

After competition in Xining Edyta went to Shanghai for commercial event Rock Masters, which will take place on 16-17 October. World Cup Final will be held on 20-21 October in South Korean Mokpo.
