Northstar Series - Adrienne Schneider

October 11, 2012 -  Adrienne Schneider

Happy 10/11/12 day!  It’s official, it is snowing in Mammoth (set to open November 8)!  Some Tahoe resorts are planning on their opening date of November 15 (unbelievable).  Free of heat for about a week now, Tahoe celebrated rain today, making the trails once again, dust free.  The rain came just in time for Sky Tavern Mountain Bike Park which is going to open next weekend! Jill won the Race for Tara and I wrapped up the Northstar Downhill series with the overall series win, three years running!

5 weeks back, Northstar got hit with 12” of rain in two days, Gypsy was totaled! Talking with friend and trail builder Kevin Bouchard, he said “It wasn't safe to open so we thought we would change and rebuild it. A few of us had similar ideas all with different little twist. Some worked some didn't. Each section we rebuilt we tested over and over. Different riders different bikes. 5 weeks later and the upper half complete, we feel that we have made some great improvements to the park in general.”  Northstar has such a great and talented team; they rock! The new trail opened two weeks ago and now I'm bummed the park is now closed for the season.  That trail is awesome!  Can’t wait for next year!
