After a full month off due to a ruptured A2 Pulley in my left hand, I am now beginning to train again!
This break from climbing has been emotionally difficult for me because I could not compete at the World Championships in Paris, France, as planned, nor could I compete in the World Cup in Atlanta, Georgia. Both of these competitions had been events that I was looking forward to and that I had my travel plans already arranged for as well. However, injuries happen and there was nothing that I could do but wait out the recovery process and hope to heal as quick as possible.
I went to a host of doctors and all of them gave me confusingly different recovery plans ranging from 3-4 weeks off, to 2-3 months off. I decided that my best indicator was my own intuition. After about a month off, I now feel good enough to begin my come back. I have special tape provided to me by LifeStrength to help strengthen my pulley during the beginning stages, and I am going to take this recovery slowly. Having devoted a significant chunk of time to recovering, I want to be sure that I see the process through in its entirety. In the meantime, I have definitely been occupied with climbing a separate mountain of schoolwork and while I love my classes, it is certainly a change of pace being back in school studying and having other obligations in my life than my climbing career. Variety is great though, and I am trying my best to excel in both aspects of my life. Hopefully I will find my stride J

Dreaming of zero limitations…
