One thing you definitely need in Adrespach are a pair of Moccasym shoes. They saved my live almost every day! THANK YOU FIVE TEN TO MAKE SUCH AMAZING SHOES.
Almost 42 at the End of a Perfect Climbing Season - Michel Kleinjan
Just back from the last climbing trip of this season. On October 28, I turn 42 years. Since I quit my job and sold my house and started climbing full time, one year ago a dream has come true. This year was all about climbing, I have all of my goals; climbing 7a French sportsgrate in Ceuse on sight, climbing UIAA 8 in Frankenjura onsight, climbing a sick project in Fontainebleau, the Super-Parcours existing of 207 boulder to be climbed in one day. I dit this project in September and got to climb 125 problems in 8 hours, next spring I take another shot on this one. And finally I climbed VIIIA Sandstone grade in Adrespach, Czech. The scariest climbing area I ever climbed. I climbed there the Kalamarka edge, togerther with climbing legend Igor Kollar, the president of Slowak Mountaineering Union. Who opened this route 35 years ago and repeated it at the age of 60!
He is known for his impressive list of 1 st ascents on the Marmolada wall, like the Fisch route (1981) and the Via Italia (1985)
It was an honer to climb with him and congratulate him with the repetition at the top of the Church Wall in Teplice Skaldy, Czech. To climb in the sandstone area Adrespach/ Teplice is a real adventure. No use of hardware protection like cams, the rock is to soft and from a historical point of view on ethics is usually not protected by a lot of ring bolts. First protection is mostly fount at 10 to 15 meters above the ground! But as a sponsored climber of THE BRAND OF THE BRAVE I climbed here for two weeks and will be back in this area each year! It learns you a lot about yourself as a climber and you know exactly what your weakest point are. So traditionally I'll end my climbing season in Czeck sandstone to have a clear view on my goals for the next year and what I have to focus on. One thing you definitely need in Adrespach are a pair of Moccasym shoes. They saved my live almost every day! THANK YOU FIVETEN TO MAKE SUCH AMAZING SHOES. So a big thanks to Fiveten Netherlands, to sponsor me and belief in me as an athlete and professional climbing trainer/ coach.
On two trips, to Fontainebleau and Adrespach I brought a photographer with me to provide my sponsors with hopefully stunning pic's. In this blog a sneek preview. After I started my new training program for this winter and set my new goals for next year I'll make sure you all get to see the best pictures. Now first organize my live as a full time training athlete and coach and enjoy my 42 th birthday. More to see and read in November.
