It was awesome to have such a HUGE Pro event in the Pacific Northwest. We haven't had a Pro Bouldering Competition there in my lifetime, and it was awesome to break free from the typical geographical locations. Seattle was awesome, it's a cool city. We had GREAT weather (surprisingly enough). The Unified Bouldering Championships Competition was held at Stone Gardens, a new gym that just opened up in Seattle. I have no doubt that after we cleared all our comp mess out of the way Stone Gardens is going to be one amazing bouldering gym. There was soo much bouldering wall space!!! Fantastic angles, great padding. I have been to A LOT of climbing gyms, and for wall space and design alone I would rank Stone Gardens in the TOP 5 Bouldering Gyms in the Country.
Aside from the venue, the comp went great as well. Chris Danielson set outstanding boulders--as usual. Finals was fun, the crowd was motivating, all the ladies competing are great friends, JOSH LARSON dominated!!! And oh, yeah--I won!!! Just BARELY beating out Angie Payne by like two holds!!! Another Five Ten athlete who did well in the comp was Nina Williams in 4th.
I can't wait to see if the UBC returns to Seattle next year. If they do--I'm IN!
