Sticking with my theme of the summer (trying new water crafts) I decided the warm water and warmer weather of Hells Canyon would be a great for trying out SUPing.
Hells Canyon is located on the Snake River along the borders of NE Oregon and W Idaho. It is the deepest river gorge in North America and the largest tributary of the Columbia River. Being the largest tributary should have made me think twice about trying to SUP for the first time, but it didn't even cross my mind. My training ground was big water and big rapids...which also translated to big wipeouts and big smiles! I sure was thankful that I brought my Water Tennies to help me stay on the board!
