I am extremely excited to be writing my first blog for Five Ten and be a part of such a great team!
I recently left my previous job to take some much needed time off. Since then, I've been climbing, relaxing in my hammock and setting at one of our local gyms! I haven't set much in the past few years so I was excited and nervous to be doing it again. Setting's what puts me in the zone. I love it. Trying to figure out how to force others to do a move a certain way, but still making it doable for people of every body type. I had a few ideas going in but wasn't really sure what was going to happen as the gym I've been accustomed to setting at is at least 10 feet shorter. The routes went up like magic. I put on some good beats and got lost in my own little setting world. I always find setting helps me with my climbing too, even though really you don't do any until the routes are set.
Aside from setting, I've been doing a bit of bouldering and looking for new crags with friends. Sadly, we were shut down pretty hard looking for a crag we'd heard of when we got caught in a torrential downpour. We tried to stick it out, but after bush whacking for over an hour decided to call it a day. I think it was a good lesson in patience, persistence and learning to enjoy things no matter what for all of us!
Keep sending!
