Wingsuiting in Hawaii - Suz Graham

July 03, 2012 -  Suz Graham

A few weeks ago I got to go to Hawaii with a world class lineup of athletes to shoot an online campaign for a new processor/technology that Intel has has recently released. The trip was a whirlwind, with the emphasis on wind... definitely challenging as it seemed like everything was working against us, we literally had to sit around for days and days, waking up early, staging, just to watch the wind blow. We tried everything we could, different locations, different plans, but it was just too windy for us to safely jump, paraglide, speedfly, anything. Lucky for us, we were able to work with the conditions, took a last minute flight to Oahu (we were originally on Maui) and ended up getting some amazing footage flying our wingsuits through huge puffy clouds over the islands. The end shot where we were fliming the "finish line" was hillarious to film, and more challenging than you think. It was extremely windy, and all those crashes and falls were most definitely not faked. Ha! It ends with me running through the finish line- pretty fresh off a broken leg still, I can't run so gracefully yet. I think it just adds to it. :)

All in all, it was a fantastic trip and a huge pleasure to work with the 11 others who were involved in the project. Can't wait for what's next!
