Oh how time flies when you are having fun….

The past 4 months have been a whirlwind and have taken me to 5 states and 3 countries.  I have been admittedly bad at blogging along the way, but here’s the quick summary:

I went to Europe to compete in some World Cups.  I found them to be very challenging, especially mentally.  I didn’t climb as well as I would have liked, and I got frustrated, but I came back home with some more international experience under my belt and checked a few new places off the visit list.

I traveled to Virginia to compete in the Dominion RiverRock competition in May.  I climbed on some crazy structures and had a great time.  The climbing was as unique this year as it was last year, and we found ourselves monkeying our way up enduro-boulders on the hanging features.  I placed third to Sasha and AJ.

I returned to Vail this year for the World Cup at the Teva Mountain Games.  I was hoping to make finals again this year, and was feeling on track for that during qualifiers.  Semis, however, didn’t go so well, and I didn’t advance.  It’s been a difficult few months for comp climbing, but I’m gaining some new insight into some of my weaknesses as a competitor.  I’ll eventually write more about that when I launch my personal blog in the next few months (!).

Now I am back home with my nose temporarily buried in books while I take a summer class.  That finishes soon, however, and I’m VERY EXCITED to get outside and climb on some real boulders.  Then, I’m off to Greenland!!!  More on that soon….
