We’ll here I am: a McDonald’s in Nemours, France. It’s raining which is nothing new. Certainly I expected some rain during the course of this 28-day trip but it’s a little depressing nonetheless. But really, I have nothing to complain about. I mean for the past couple weeks I’ve been climbing in Fontainebleau, I’ve been visiting Paris on rest days, and I’ve been eating French cheese, chocolate, pastries and wine. I don’t even remember what life was like before this. That is to say, I’ll be sad to go home. Before I do though I’m hoping to finish up a couple problems.

You might already know that I’m from the Southeast and that sandstone areas like Horse Pens 40 and Little Rock City are my home turf. You might find it surprising then that I have always had more trouble with sandstone boulders than granite ones and more trouble with slopers than crimps. So I was a bit apprehensive about Fontainebleau. Rightfully so it turns out. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve had a fair share of success but I’ve been handed my ass more times than I can count. It’s humbling and inspiring at the same time. I’m grateful for my time here and there is one thing you can count on – I will be back.
