This past weekend, as I mentioned before, I got the opportunity to go climbing at Rotary Park. We climbed there Thursday , Friday, and Saturday. My main goal was to send a problem called Silver Leaf. While we were up there, we also got on a few other boulders. Overall, we had a nice weekend.
On Thursday, we started walking around to find Silver Leaf. One of my friends had given me directions to this boulder, but we ended up walking around for two hours without seeing it. At this point, we were just dying to get on the rock. We decided to go climb a fun, harder problem. This problem was called Powerglide. This problem is just several moves on very small crimps. In the crux, my feet cut as I jumped to the next hold. I was psyched to top out this problem.
The next day, my first day on Silver Leaf, I had trouble pulling off of the ground. This was the crux for me. I spent about two hours on it the first day. After falling many times on the first move, I knew that I wanted to send it. That day we left having only sent the warm ups.
The next day, we came back to send. After warming up on a nice V3 slab problem, we walked over to Silver Leaf. Again, I was having problems pulling off of the ground. Finally, I stuck the crux move. After I did that, the problem was over for me. I pulled through a couple more moves, then topped out the boulder. I has super psyched to have finished this boulder!
In conclusion, I had an amazing day on real rock. I didn’t climb very many problems, but I pushed myself to finish another hard problem.
