Winter Time - Brian Dunnohew

February 15, 2012 -  bdunnohew

Winter is throwing me for a loop again this year! Usually I climb around Lander and the Flaming Gorge until the first week of Jan. I take a week long rest then began a 9 week training regimen. It usually works out great because the highway to the Flaming Gorge is closed for the most of Jan and Feb and the roads to Lander can be terrifying and should be closed more often. But, this year it has been unusually warm and we have been able to climb outside more often. So now I am climbing inside 3-4 days a week and outside 2-3 days a week. Getting worked…which I guess is the point.

My shoes are also getting worked. I mainly climb in in a stiffer shoe like the Dragons, Quantum, or Anasazi lace-ups and training a softer shoe like the Hornets or the Blackwings. Good thing I keep a Stealth Paint Kit around to patch shoes and even add some to my girlfriend’s high heels.  She is doing runway walk in March and has to practice a couple days a week (yes this is kinds strange to me) on slick wood. Now I might be adding Stealth Paint to a few of the other girls’ shoes! Thanks to Kevin Newell with Five Ten for teaching us how to paint.
