Floodlust: Hoping, longing for a flood.
The moment rain begins to fall, paddlers across the Northwest get jittery. When the forecast calls for a solid week of rain, Facebook and Twitter updates roar alive, "Skiers and weather nerds start at the beginning; kayakers, skip to the last paragraph. Stoked!"
Stoked is exactly what we were when the Lower Deschutes River came up to the magic level: 10,000 cfs, and we were able to have ourselves an awesome surf session at the infamous Conestoga Wave. Located near Maupin, Oregon, Conestoga is a very dynamic wave, giving up aerial tricks to those who wait for the big bounce! Hope the rest of you river-folk were able to enjoy the recent flood!
