A couple weekends back a few friends and I ventured out to Red Rocks to spend some time projecting Wet Dream (V12), a stellar roof problem out in Black Velvet Canyon. This was my first time laying eyes on the boulders out there and I was not disappointed. With some good height, tricky technical movement, and a healthy dose of burl Wet Dream was everything the guidebook photos made it out to be and more. Our group quickly pieced together the bottom cruxes early in the day but were stymied by the top section, with its sloping square-cuts and unsettling committed heel-hooks and toe-cams. None of us managed to tick the line, but we're confident the problem will go with one or two more days out. I ended up flashing Americana Exotica (V10), a stunning line in Gateway Canyon out past the Kraft Boulders, as something of a consolation prize however my thoughts will be consumed by Wet Dream until I get another day out. If you're in the area I'd definitely budget some time for Wet Dream, a problem that's considered among the best in the country. You won't be disappointed...
