"Freeskiing, with its travels and opportunities that come with the sport are something that I always promised myself never to take for granted. In the past ten years, I have been able to travel the world with my freeskiing friends searching for fresh snow, attending freeskiing events, and everything else in between. In a world where social networking and the internet has brought us all together as one, requesting instant play-by-play updates of our personal interests on a daily basis is always a top priority. When you visit small mountain ski resort towns, the technological demand seems to shift, and that is something I always admired about its occupants.
Professional Freeskiers visit Revelstoke schools during the Freeskiing and Freeride World Tour
This trip to Revelstoke, British Columbia, Canada, marks the third year in a row that I will be one of the "voices" commentating on the Subaru Freeskiing World Tour. Even though this current tour stop marks the hardest and most unique stops we have ever done, combining the Subaru Freeskiing World Tour, The Swatch Freeride World Tour, and The North Face Masters of Snowboarding into one global freeriding event, there has been a standout experience of this trip that notably will be my personal highlight. The town of Revelstoke approached a handful of freeskiing athletes; Drew Tabke, Lexi Dupont, Jaqui Edgerly, Leah Evans, and myself, to be guest speakers at the local highschool and elementary schools to educate the kids on our sport, freeskiing events, personal accomplishments, and freeskiing safety. The satisfying feeling of talking with these kids, answering their questions, and signing hundreds of autographs, made us feel like true role models and athletic superstars. They treated the time we shared as if we were doing them an unmeasurable gesture, giving them just a few hours of our lives. Little did they know, they were actually doing us the favor, and it is an opportunity I would never pass up again.
Thank you Revelstoke for being so kind to us and giving us the opportunity to meet you. There is so much freeskiing potential in those schools, so the freeskiing world better prepare itself for what is in store for the future."
