Two weekends ago I headed down to the first annual Portland Boulder Rally. This would be my third Open competition in the last two months. I previously competed in the Northwest Boulderfest at the Seattle Bouldering Project, the Seattle Bouldering Challenge at Stone Gardens, and this time the PBR at the NE Circuit Bouldering Gym. At the first two competitions I made it into Finals, so this was pretty much my goal for this comp. too. The PNW has really strong boulderers so sometimes it's really hard just to make it into the top 10 for finals. Unfortunately, the Circuit decided to only take 6 people to Finals because they were doing a World Cup format for Finals and I missed by 10 points.. It was still a really fun comp and it was awesome to see Five Ten Athlete Carlo Traversi come out and dominate the competition for males. Along with Carlo, athletes Johnny Goicoechea, Matt Fultz, and Stephen Meinhold also repped Five Ten in Finals. I was bummed I didn't make Finals but it was a blast to watch and it just motivates me to train that much harder for Youth Nationals coming up in March!
