Five Ten team athletes Edyta Ropek wins speed climbing world cup which was held last week in Chamonix Mont Blanc, France. This was second edition of 2011 cup season, and Edyta now is back on the 1-st place in world ranking!

Competition in Chamonix was very hard for Edyta, during qualification round she had to face problems with timing system, in consequence of which she was started three times in first attempt, and she when she ran she fall down from the wall. Her second and last attempt to be qualified in to the finals, was also very stressful for her. As Russian athlete Natalia Titowa made two false starts and made protest about it. So Edyta was waiting five minutes to be started correctly, after judges decided what to do. Finally she made it, in her last chance Edyta climbed 15 meter route in 9,85 seconds and qualified to next round in 4-th position! Goooood!

In the finals her first opponent was Kseniya Polekhina from Russia. Edyta win that hit with time 9,75 seconds to 10,31 seconds. In next hit she fight with Anna Tsyganova, and in very fast runs she wins with 9,30 seconds to 9,75 s. Next hit was one of the fastest during that comps, Edyta put up the fight with Maria Krasavina from Russia, and she made 9,19 seconds (World Record is 9,04 s.!) to 9,64 s. of Maria. Edyta was in big final!

Last run of Chamonix world cup was most exiting. Edyta was running in pair with Alina Gaydamakina. In first meters they were climbing head to head, but in the middle of distance Edyta made little mistake, and Alina was slightly higher. But Edyta made it, in very fast and risky finish she slipped perfectly to finishing platform and that gave her first place with 9,31 seconds to 9,45 of Gaydamakina!

For Edyta it was second world cup, in Milano (Italy) she was third. After two editions Polish climber is ranked of first position of world ranking! Next competition will be held on famous dam in Valle di Daone, Italy on 6-7.08.2011.
