Climbing again! Today I got out to Central Endless – a wall known for VERTICAL ROUTES and STIFF GRADES. The approach is interesting as well because it involves climbing down an 80’ ladder system to the base of the cliff. I was immediately INSPIRED by the aesthetic aspect of the route Quinsana Plus (5.13a) - the route is near vertical and climbs 70 feet of an orange and black streaked wall. I decided that the route would be my day’s goal. A few hours and three burns later I had climbed the route – goal complete. I also had an INTERESTING INSIGHT.

Because I’m not a route climber, I find that I have a strange freedom when it comes to climbing routes. That is, I am unconcerned with sending and unconcerned with grades. I mean sure, I love a challenge, but my expectations in the realm of route climbing are so low I’m FREED OF A DESPERATION TO SUCCEED. For me, climbing routes is just good fun.

The DYNO COMP was beginning when we arrived back at the event and I grabbed a couple tacos before plopping down to eat and watch. There was one dyno in particular – from the bottom right of the wall to a jug at the top – that I wanted someone to try. No one did. Anyway, it looked like a good time. The rest of the night I spent enjoying the company of friends as the party raged around us. Tomorrow we will be packing up and heading back to Chattanooga. Then, on Tuesday we are going to be driving to Oklahoma for a shoe demo in Oklahoma City on Wednesday night. See you in OK!
