Here are a few week-old pics of the recent comp in Boulder. I’m not a comp climber. Putting my strength to the test in front of hundreds of live spectators and thousands of inet viewers has never been high on my to-do list, so I have mad respect to those who go out and rock it at these events. The walls where huge and the overall aesthetics of the comp were great. Big ups to the comp producers Pete Ward, Jason Danforth and their whole crew, plus John Stacks wall making madmen, everything looked tip top.
I wasn’t as psyched on the block scoring. I’ve seen it before it always feels a little contrived. But it did switch up the game a little getting a different set of competitors in the mix, and like I mentioned before I don’t really know squat about these things to begin with so I guess don’t listen to me just check out some photos. Besides Ice climbing I haven’t climbed outside in 4 months, so this fancy comp had me feeling right at home. That being said, my dry spell is soon to end in the next weeks as Joe and I take off on a 5 month road trip. That’s right I said 5. Freaking out.
