November time

November time

December 12, 2010 -  Katy Whittaker

Have not gotten out climbing loads over the past month been busy busy at uni, but when I have they have been really good days. Earlier in November we had a quick visit to Ikley, everything was soaking except the wall ranging from Desperate Dan to Newstatesman. We warmed up on a route called the cow udder, which is about HVS, a solo up the middle of the wall on chipped pockets. I then had a go on Desperate Dan, which climbs a thin wall and out onto a left arête. Really good route!!

I kept getting scared committing to the crux and jumping off. After a rest I decided I just needed to man up, and did it next go! Apart from this had a few days at Stanage bouldering and highballing. Managed to get myself up Silk. I did it last year with loads of snow under it, but couldn’t take the tick because I had missed out the V6 boulder problem start, so was pleased to get it done. Next we went over to Shirley’s Shinning Temple, which I some how managed to do first go! It is a fun problem, with a weird palm move at the start into balancy slab climbing. Then had a quick go on the storm. which I fail to do every time I go to Stanage, and it didn’t disappoint!

Just finished uni for Christmas now, so hopefully will get out a bit more in the next few weeks…we will see.
