A couple weeks ago I competed in the 3rd Planet Granite Bloc Party at PG Sunnyvale. It was great to get back into bouldering and have a great time climbing without stressing out over anything. The problems were great, there was tons of pizza, and the finals were amazing to watch. I ended up winning the redpoint comp, but since I didn't compete in the other three competitions I didn't have enough points to make finals.

I also got to finally road test my new 5.10 Team shoes, which performed amazingly on the steep roof terrain on the back of the outdoor bouldering wall. The downturned toe and hard toe box made edging on overhanging crimps feel almost natural, and the heel cup worked perfectly every time. SICK shoe. Thanks PG for putting on such a great show! The big winners in finals were Brett Ashton and 5.10 athlete Natasha Barnes, who dominated all the problems. Definitely looking forward to next year already. Last weekend, I also helped raise money for my old coach, Stacey Collver. In 2003, she was diagnosed with a potentially fatal lung disease called LAM. Luckily, she was able to receive a double lung transplant in 2004, and has been raising money ever since to cover medical bills and expenses. I was able to raise over $300 for Stacey as well as climbing over 3200 feet in the climbathon! Thanks to everyone who donated, all your help really makes a difference.
