I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. I can't believe it's December already - my exams start next week! That means more studying and less climbing. I'll be getting out Saturday though, for the third leg of the Triple Crown - Stone Fort. The weather is looking good and I'm looking forward to hanging out with everyone.
Brion Voges Heads to Stone Fort
Of the three Triple Crown boulderfields, Stone Fort has the greatest concentration of difficult boulders. Hound Ears has a bunch in the v9 range; at Horse Pens it's v10's; at Stone Fort its v11's and 12's. That makes it the most difficult of the three comps. I'm expecting a pretty painful but satisfying training (it helps to look at Triple Crown days as training days) day. Stay tuned for the results and if you're in the neighborhood come down and check it out!
We were in Arkansas again this past weekend - can't stay away. I was mostly psyched on trying Dave Graham's Wood Grain Grippin' (v14). We headed out early to try it. I didn't do it but I got soooo close. I can't wait to get back there to finish it off! We also went searching for The Dirty 30 (v12). Check out the video if you get a chance.
We leave for Hueco next Friday and I am amped! Can't wait to try hard on legendary boulders like Esperanza and Slashface.
See you out there,
