So a few weekends ago I went up to the Gunks with a couple of buddies. Me, Mark Heal, Garrett Koeppicus, and Ivan Greene went up to the Gunks, trying boulder problems for every one. According to the weather, its forecast was sunny, but that wasn't all sunny, it rained most of the way up, we were nervous. I was working on the Illustrious Buddha, Mark worked Venus in Scorpio, Ivan worked a project, and Garrett kinda just tried everything and took some good shots.

First we walked up the Stair Master and on to the Carriage Road in the Trapps.  Then Ivan cut off the road, up the hill to the project and started cleaning it to make sure its dry for his attempts. Me, Garrett and Mark went down to the Boxcar Boulder to warm up.  It was pretty chilly.  We walked back down the road to the Buddha boulder and  reached one of the projects (for one of us at least!).  I did the regular Buddha first go, then gave The Illustrious a few good burns, but no send :(

After the Buddha we went up to Ivan's project and he gave a couple of good burns.  I got kinda bored and left and ran into a couple of friends and talked for a bit.  After the chat I went back up the hill to Ivan's project and no one was there.  I went back down the road and ran into Ivan and he told me everyone went to Venus in Scorpio.  I went up there and saw Ivan cleaning this huge lip traverse of slopers.  After that he made the First Ascent of it with no crash pad or spotter.

After getting down from the boulder, Mark and Garrett come down the carriage road and Ivan asked, ''did you send?''

Mark answered ''No, fell off the last move.''  (Garrett has already sent Venus in Scorpio in the past.)
