Brion Voges Reports on Horse Pens 40

November 07, 2010 -  Brion Voges

Horse Pens = Success. The 2010 Triple Crown continued yesterday at Horse Pens 40. Weather was incredible - sunny and breezy with a high of only 54. And while Triple Crown days are usually torturous days spent attempting difficult boulders in less than optimal conditions, yesterday was one of the most enjoyable days of climbing I've had in a while. Competitors were happy, no one rushed by the threat of warming boulders or rolling skin, and everyone seemed excited to try their hardest.

On another note, the Five Ten presence was overwhelming. Ronnie Jenkins - the rep and legend - was in town with the van and as always the Five Ten demo seemed to dwarf those of other shoe vendors. People seemed especially excited about the new shoe designs. Five Ten athletes even claimed three podium spots: Angie Payne in 1st for the women, Isabelle Faus in 3rd, and me in 2nd for the men.

Anyway, fall is officially here and in the Southeast we have all been enjoying the cool mornings and  shady afternoons. It won't be long before we'll be taking weekend trips to Arkansas! Very excited!

Until then,

Brion
