Angie Payne Reviews The New Black Wing

Angie Payne Reviews The New Black Wing

My thoughts on the Black Wing:

I recently received a pair of Black Wings and have just started to break them in.  Although I had just ordered new Projects (my favorites) in anticipation of their discontinuation, I haven't found myself wearing then as much as I expected I would.  Instead, I have been wearing my Black Wings, because they are pretty darn good.

To me, they climb a lot like a Dragon, with slightly less precision only because I can't cinch them down quite as tightly as I do my Dragons.  The Velcro® has its advantages though, and I really like that feature for training in the gym. I find that I rarely wear lace ups when I'm having a training session, so the Black Wing is awesome for that.

I recently wore them outside and was impressed with their toe-hooking abilities too. They have some slightly sticky stripes on the top of the toe and I wasn't sure how well they would stick, but after testing them out, I decided that they toe hook pretty well. So, if you're looking for a shoe that is very similar to the Dragon but a little more convenient for training, the Black Wing is probably your shoe.
