Mayan Plays the Waiting Game

Mayan Plays the Waiting Game

October 25, 2010 -  Mayan Smith-Gobat

Well, I do not have any exciting news this time… It has been a frustrating couple of weeks for me. All my preparations have been made, I know the pitches, the gear necessary and have stashed water for an ascent, yet unfortunately I have been lacking two vital things: a good enough weather and a climbing partner. There have been short windows of opportunity, and time when in retrospect I could maybe have climbed, but after my last experience I have been hesitant to start with a marginal forecast.

So, with Autumn and my departure date encroaching my patience is once again being put to the test. The last few days have been terrible weather, and today the Captain has totally vanished into the clouds, but it looks as though the weather is improving. The last weather up-date is finally showing some hope of me having one last chance on the Salathe. The positive aspect is that I now have a climbing partner sorted, have had some extra time to work on the crux pitches and am very well rested.
