The Crag That Keeps on Giving - Peter Whittaker

The Crag That Keeps on Giving - Peter Whittaker

Where else would there be another new hard route, but Burbage South. The crag just keeps on giving. Over the last couple of years I've done a number of new routes at this brilliant (and difficult crag.) 6 new routes in fact!

Anyway I did the FA of a E7 the other day in the Burbage South Quarries. It wasn't a new route but a existing route without pre-clipping a peg. The Original route called 'No Flowers' was done with I think i peg (which must have been pre clipped, because it can't be reached from on route(and this is what it says in the guide)) It was originally given E5 6b.

I re climbed the route the other day without the peg. It has some spice factor to it, as you start off a ledge and pull out onto this rib, then gun straight for the top. I reckoned it to be around E7 for this sort of ascent.

For a fairly small crag I really can't believe the concentration of hard routes (E7 and above) at Burbage South crag now!
The list goes something like this:
1 x E10
4 x E9
5 x E8
11 x E7
Quite some list!

It truly does keep on giving
