A trip up the legendary classic in Tuolumne meadows.
A few days ago, Hazel Findlay and I climbed the Bachar-Yerian in Tuolumne Meadows, a classic 4 pitch route up Medlicott Dome. This line, put up on lead, has a reputation for bold runouts. John Bachar, who passed away last year, has been a hero of mine since I was a kid. Finally climbing the route was a dream come true. Hazel and I swung leads. I don't know how many women have climbed this route clean, but I suspect Hazel is in a small club.
For the route I wore my Anasazi Blancos, the best edging shoes around. When you are facing an 80 foot fall, it's nice to know for certain that your foot isn't going to slip.
