I headed over to the final of the British downhill series at Caersws, Wales this weekend. I had no plans of doing the series this year since having done it since I started and little time this year, but with it looking like a well revamped series I fancied the last one. It was good to see all my friends from back on the U.k scene and the track was short so you could just pack the runs in and have fun.
In my seeding run I had an over-the-bars near the top in some stumps which left me worse for wear with a limp hand. Before race run you normally warm up and get in the zone, this time I was playing around with strapping my hand up and finding what little strength my hand had in it. Race run was loose as you like, pretty much just hanging on with my right arm. Safe to say I didn't get the result I went for.
On the Sunday night I went down to London for a few days work shop fitting. Hoping I had only sprained my hand I just got on with it but went to have an x-ray for piece of mind. I didn't think I would be so happy when someone told me my hand was broken but when its a hot Eastern European bird telling you, what else can you do but smile.
Now I've got my wrist accessory I'll be off the bike for a few weeks which will give me an excuse to go fishing and sort a team ride for 2011. Hope you all had a good summer.
