Norwegian Rock Masters Comp Report from Steve McClure

Norwegian Rock Masters Comp Report from Steve McClure

September 02, 2010 -

The Nordic countries are awesome, and the people are always super nice. I was invited to the Norwegian Rock Masters competition and just had to go for the crack, not really for the comp. As it turned out the comp was great too, I ended up 2nd.

I made some cool mates, and the winner, Daniel Jung is such a nice guy it’s good that he’s lumbered with two massive trophies! The next day we did a bunch of great routes, I onsighted 8a+, and got involved with next years event. The organizers already had some big plans, but I turned them upside down by suggesting the World’s first International DWS…… I’ll keep you posted!

And I got to hang with Ivo Ninov, 5.10 euro technical rep dude, a guy with a story about everything; climbing rock, jumping off rock, living on the rock. A Yosemite Lifer who’s become a 5.10 lifer. We tested some new shoes, what a surprise, they were awesome, and made plans. I was amazed there is someone more passionate about the shoes than I am!
