At the beginning my idea was to deliver the supplies that I’ve brought to the Hushe kids, but after I’ve been invited to stay on Kanday village for a few days, I realized that this village have less support than Hushe, since it’s a place that most of the expeditions pass without even stop.
Kanday is the last village before Hushe, with near 160 habitants split between the old and new zone, since half of the village was destroyed by a giant rock fall in the year of 2000.
For the past years they have been reconstructing the village on a new place, 3 kilometers north from the old part. However, Kanday it’s on a beautiful place, giving access to Nangmah Valley and with a privilege view to Mashembrum. It’s hard to say that I have ever been on a more beautiful place that this one, like it is to say, that I have ever been on a poorest place. Nevertheless, I really enjoy the days that I’ve been there. See the joy on the children’s eyes, simply because they received a ball to play, a new shirt to wear or a pen to write, it was a fulfilling experience for me!
Here are some photos from the Nangmah Valley too, that is a really beautiful place and it was a great acclimatization for me, since the base camp it’s at 4200m altitude. The same that Charakusa base camp, place that I’m finally going in 3 days, to hopefully climb the southwest face of K7.
