What Free Running has become for me:
he path of the freerunner starts with the question, “What is my limit?” Answers, however, depend on the skill of the runner. For example, a move that is too complicated or a wall that is too high can serve as a temporary answer. The freerunner overcomes these obstacles through determination and practice. Their training is vital to their path. Improving technique and learning new skills provide the possibility for endless growth and development. Through this type of diligent training, the freerunner finally discovers the truth: freerunning isn’t about pushing limits, it is all about discovering that there are no limits. They unlock something deep in their mind, a deeper awareness and a new consciousness. Then everything changes. They aspire to be who they are regardless of social norm and begin to live their dreams. Anything is possible through dedication and persistence.
Many travel the path of the freerunner, and I am among them. Through this art of motion the freerunners are brought together,each sharing the same need to find the truth. The movement and self-expression helped open my eyes and to find my true self. I realize that the person I was trying to be all my life was the person that I already was. I realize that fear is the only thing that can keep us from our dreams, This is what our purpose in life is. Its not about having no fear but rather overcoming the fears that we do have. I have learned that fear isn’t a curse, but it's a gift. This is the path of the freerunner and it changes lives. I know this because freerunning didn’t just change my life, it became it.
