  • Favorite Climbing Shoe TEAM 5.10 - Five Ten took everything that was great about the V10 and added a few improvements to make an awesome new shoe. It's aggressively downturned with super sticky Stealth rubber in all the right places.
  • Favorite Everyday Shoe Most of the time I rock the Runaways. They breathe well and provide all day comfort - plus they look good too.

  • About me I have been climbing for more than eight years and enjoy all aspects of the sport. I mainly boulder and compete, though I am currently getting psyched on trad and sport climbing. Also, I spend a lot of time photographing climbing, and my photos have been published in Climbing, Urban Climber, and Rock and Ice. I currently spend summers in Boulder, CO and winters attending school in Vancouver, BC. I work as a routesetter, attend many local, regional, and national climbing competitions, and generally try to be an active and visible member of the climbing community. Sport Climbing on Vancouver Island by Ryan Olson
Tucked away in the middle of Vancouver Island is an incredible limestone amphitheater with dozes of steep, classic sport climbs. Several times a year, my girlfriend Vikki and I shell out the $143 ferry fare and make the Journey...
Ryan Olson - A look back on June and summer plans
This June I rediscovered my psych for competition climbing, started training hard in the gym, and even made it outside a number of times. I've got big plans to sport climb, compete, and boulder with the rest of my...

Ryan Olson update from Tour De Bloc Western Canada Regionals
A few weeks back, I drove inland to Kamloops and Kelowna to attend the Tour De Bloc’s Western Regionals. From Vancouver, it’s almost a five hour drive, but it was well worth it in the end. The competition consisted...
