I was born in Canary Islands--my father is Jordanian, my mother Spanish. I started with trekking--which is wonderful in Jordan. Then I got my hands on a rope. At first it was canyoneering, then climbing, then trad climbing, then bolting new routes. Nothing beats finishing a multi-pitch and experiencing the summit. But what I love is route development. Setting up routes is a real exploration; you never know where will you finish, if you do. One of my favorite recent projects was with UNESCO in Petra, Jordan The project involved some of the most satisfying climbs ever. We discovered archaeological sites that have never been studied in the famous walls of Petra where Indiana Johns found the Holy Grail.
