My name is Craig Kleckner, I grew up in a tight knit wrestling family with three older brothers in a small coal mining village in Pennsylvania. In junior high I started riding freestyle BMX and that consumed my life for the next twelve years. In high school I was introduced to kayaking through my brothers outfitter. Initially we knew nothing about kayaking, but after a couple years of self exploration I discovered my new passion, white water kayaking. Eight years later I find myself near the top of freestyle kayaking and traveling around in the Pyranha van searching for unexplored rivers, creeks, and waves. Currently I am coaching at New River Academy, teaching eager high school students how to become great kayakers. In my kayaking career I have been lucky enough to paddle the Grand Canyon of the Colorado, the White Nile River in Uganda, and various waters in Ontario and British Columbia. My achievements so far have been being able to make a living as a kayaker, finishing third in the US point series last year, paddling the White Nile before it was dammed and lost forever, and paddling the Grand Canyon. Live life lightly.
