On the first day of 2000 I was taken to a climbing gym in Jacksonville, FL. My life has never been the same since. Almost instantly all of my priorities and goals changed. Climbing became everything to me and everything began to revolve around the constant desire to find that next perfect route. The lack of climbable rock sent me running from the hot flatlands of Florida, to Tennessee, and finally to Colorado where I’m currently a Kindergarten teacher in Carbondale. I’m lucky to now have Rifle Mountain Park as my “home crag” and a schedule that allows me traveling to new and exciting places. Finding a route that at first appears impossible. A route that beats me down, forces me to re-learn how to climb, a route that keeps me awake at night trying to figure out the perfect body position, the perfect foothold, the perfect sequence. That’s what I love about climbing. That’s what I live for.
